LGBTQ+ Creators Come Together to Talk About Being Openly Themselves Online

At VidCon 2025, Nick Bornstein, the general manager of the Webby Awards, moderated an engaging panel featuring LGBTQ+ creators. The lineup included Briel Adams-Wheatley, Jools Lebron, Ruba Wilson, Hailee and Kendra, and Naomi Hearts.

The conversation revolved around viral fame, the intersectionality of queerness, the balance between professional and personal lives, and future aspirations.

Lebron, known for her “Very demure, very mindful” content, revealed how her viral success changed her life. She financed her transition through content creation and GoFundMe, and also assisted in funding a woman’s transition in Puerto Rico.

Hailee and Kendra, a same-sex couple, discussed how collaborating on content supports their authenticity.

Bornstein inquired about Ruba Wilson’s journey in hosting and his entry into television. Wilson encouraged others to connect with their inner child and follow a path that resonates with them.

The panel highlighted the importance of infusing their content with light and joy. The creators emphasized the need to showcase queer joy online, even in the face of efforts to undermine it. Naomi Hearts remarked, “there are so many different types of people, and I think that’s what makes us so special.”
