List of Services Impacted by AWS Disruption: Roblox, Fortnite, Snapchat, Signal, and More

Amazon Web Services (AWS) encountered difficulties at the start of the week. A major internet disruption affected AWS-dependent platforms early Monday morning, impacting a variety of well-known websites, games, and services including Fortnite, Snapchat, and HBO Max. Unsurprisingly, there was a considerable online uproar.

AWS refreshed its corporate dashboard at 5:01 a.m. ET, indicating, “We have identified a potential root cause for error rates for the DynamoDB APIs in the US-EAST-1 Region,” linking the problem to DNS resolution. AWS noted attempts to rectify the situation. By 5:27 a.m. ET, the firm reported “significant signs of recovery” across the impacted sites, with “most requests should now be succeeding.” At 6:35 a.m. ET, Amazon stated, “The underlying DNS issue has been fully mitigated, and most AWS Service operations are succeeding normally now.” However, they recognized that “some requests may be throttled while we work toward full resolution.”

Mashable reached out to Amazon for additional comments and was directed to the AWS Health Dashboard.
