The Looney Tunes franchise has encountered obstacles in recent times. In 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery scrapped the finished film Coyote vs. Acme for tax advantages. Nevertheless, Ketchup Entertainment obtained the film in 2025, intending to release it in 2026. They also launched The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes film, which Warner Bros. chose not to distribute themselves.
In March 2025, Warner Bros. took the classic Looney Tunes shorts off HBO Max. By August, Tubi secured 789 of these shorts, although Warner Bros. retained around 200 due to inappropriate content. Tubi has since profited from this acquisition.
Samuel Harowitz, Tubi’s acquisitions chief, shared with Vulture, “Looney Tunes is an enormous success for us.” Since becoming part of Tubi, Looney Tunes has risen to be among the top 10 series based on viewing time. The shorts, originally meant for theaters, are now 30-minute episodes with ad breaks in between, resembling the traditional TV cartoon experience.
Harowitz stated, “AVOD and FAST resemble ad-supported TV in a fresh format. I observe it through my children’s perspective and remember my own childhood memories.” Tubi plans to sustain Looney Tunes‘ success. “We are in talks to keep Looney Tunes on Tubi for many years,” Harowitz mentioned.
Tubi’s dedication to Looney Tunes is part of its vintage cartoon strategy, which features Tom and Jerry, The Pink Panther, Popeye the Sailor, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, fostering a Saturday morning cartoon atmosphere.
Looney Tunes is currently streaming on Tubi.
