**‘The Wheel of Time’ Unveils a Significant New Artifact in Season 3**
Episode 4 of *The Wheel of Time* Season 3 introduced a mighty new artifact: the Sakarnen, a potent *sa’angreal* that acts as the female equivalent to the fabled sword Callandor. This represents a notable divergence from *The Wheel of Time* book series by Robert Jordan, where the Sakarnen was exclusively wieldable by men.
In this episode, Aes Sedai Moiraine (portrayed by Rosamund Pike) uncovers the Sakarnen in the city of Rhuidean, concealed beneath Avendesora, the Tree of Life. Now, through an exclusive sneak peek of Season 3, Episode 5, viewers can witness the artifact’s tremendous power in action.
The clip features Moiraine channeling the One Power through the Sakarnen for the first time, releasing a breathtaking surge of energy across the Aiel Waste. This magical display is among the most magnificent moments in the series thus far, but it is not without its price. Moiraine appears visibly strained, battling to keep control over the artifact. Once completed, she nearly collapses into the embrace of her Warder, Lan (Daniel Henney).
“What is that, Moiraine?” Lan inquires, clearly perturbed.
She counters with a question of her own: “What did it feel like to you?”—touching on their profound Warder-Aes Sedai connection.
Lan describes the experience as “euphoric,” but his description grows darker as he elaborates. To him, the Sakarnen’s power also felt “like hunger and thirst, but deeper.”
This foreboding revelation raises questions about the true ramifications of wielding such vast power. Will Moiraine and Lan encounter even greater repercussions for using the Sakarnen?
*The Wheel of Time* Season 3 is now streaming on Prime Video, with fresh episodes released every Thursday.
