Netflix and NASA+ to Provide Live Space Broadcasts to Subscribers

Netflix subscribers and NASA fans are in for an exciting experience this summer as the two join forces to provide live space programming on the streaming service. Soon, subscribers will have the opportunity to view NASA’s free streaming offerings, which are currently accessible via NASA+, on Netflix. This includes activities such as rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, mission coverage, and live feeds from the International Space Station (ISS).

NASA introduced NASA+ in 2023, a complimentary on-demand streaming service that grants space enthusiasts access to the agency’s missions, documentaries, and original productions. NASA+ is available on desktop, the NASA app, Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku’s NASA channel.

Netflix is broadening its live content portfolio, having secured the rights to live sports events like the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and WWE’s Raw. The platform is also enhancing its user interface with a new homepage, AI-driven search features, and the possibility of a vertical video feed akin to TikTok’s FYP.

Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, remarked, “The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 mandates us to share our narrative of space exploration with the widest possible audience. Together, we are dedicated to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration — inspiring new generations — from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone.”

For those who do not have Netflix or are looking for more space-related content, Mashable’s Earth livestream, in collaboration with Earth/space live streaming company Sen, provides additional viewing choices.
