Netflix’s *Toxic Town* Teaser Investigates One of the UK’s Largest Poisoning Controversies

The heartbreaking incidents of child poisonings in Corby, Northamptonshire, referred to by *The Guardian* as “the most severe child-poisoning case since thalidomide,” are the centerpiece of *Toxic Town*, an intense new four-part drama on Netflix. A first-look trailer for the program has been unveiled.

The series boasts a stellar cast, featuring Jodie Whittaker (*Doctor Who*), Aimee Lou Wood (*Sex Education*), Rory Kinnear (*The Diplomat*), Claudia Jessie (*Bridgerton*), and Robert Carlyle (*Trainspotting*). *Toxic Town* investigates the revelation of birth defects linked to toxic dust from Corby’s old steelworks and the protracted legal struggle initiated by affected families, especially mothers. This case reached a conclusion in 2010 when Corby Borough Council was found negligent regarding its waste management from the British Steel factory, which had shut down in 1979.

The screenplay is crafted by Jack Thorne, acclaimed for his work on *Enola Holmes*, *His Dark Materials*, and *Stranger Things: The First Shadow*. This project is a partnership between Netflix and Broke & Bones, the production house established by *Black Mirror* creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.

*Toxic Town* will be accessible for streaming on Netflix beginning February 27.
