New Android Malware Danger Could Deplete Your Bank Balance

Android users must exercise caution regarding the origins of their apps. A new form of malware, referred to as Albiriox, is impacting devices operating on Google’s mobile platform. According to Cleafy, this malware permits attackers to take remote control of compromised devices and deplete bank accounts without requiring passwords. The malware is concealed within fraudulent Google Play Store download pages for financial applications on external websites. By clicking download on these pages, users may inadvertently install the malware, which subsequently grants the “install unknown apps” permission, facilitating the installation of additional malicious software. Attackers can then remotely manipulate the device, executing actions such as swipes and clicks, as well as gaining access to bank accounts. To mitigate this risk, it is advisable to download apps exclusively from the Play Store. Nonetheless, even legitimate app stores may harbor malware, as highlighted previously with six harmful Android applications that were recording user data.
