New Emojis for May 2026 May Showcase a Pickle and a Meteor

A sneak peek at the possible new emojis for 2026 showcases a pickle and a meteor as notable inclusions.

Emojipedia has found that Unicode has subtly updated its records with nine suggested emoji concepts for Emoji 18.0, set for September 2026.

The suggested entries, as highlighted by Emojipedia, comprise:

– A smiling face with squinting eyes
– A left-pointing thumb sign gesture
– A right-pointing thumb sign gesture
– A monarch butterfly
– A pickle
– A lighthouse
– A meteor
– An eraser
– A net with a handle

From my perspective, the pickle and meteor are valuable additions. A pickle is different from a cucumber and could prove quite handy. A meteor emoji may also be pertinent given recent happenings. Here’s a look at the suggested new emojis.

It is crucial to understand that these are merely proposed emojis and may not receive approval. Even if they do, there will be a delay before they become available on keyboards, as Unicode sanctions designs but tech companies need to integrate them.

Still, we may soon have a pickle and meteor emoji on hand. That’s something to anticipate.
