New Technique Uncovered by Cybercriminals to Obtain Microsoft Credentials

Microsoft users need to be vigilant: A novel hacking method is being employed to capture login details.

Bleeping Computer has reported on this recent technique. It utilizes a seemingly official outlook.office.com link to lead users to a phishing site.

As per Bleeping Computer, experts at Push Security indicate that the phishing scheme begins with a malicious sponsored link appearing in Google search results. In one incident, a user clicked on a harmful link after searching for “Office 265,” probably a misspelling of “Office 365.” This link redirected to an Office domain and subsequently to the phishing page.

In brief, exercise caution when clicking on sponsored links. They might seem secure, but that is not always the case.

Despite measures taken to secure data, hackers frequently maintain an advantage. As mentioned earlier this month, hackers have recently circumvented Microsoft Defender, the company’s antivirus program, using ransomware.

Even with precautions, your information could still be at risk due to breached companies. Recently, it was revealed that over 1 million individuals had their data compromised in a significant breach of Allianz Life.
