Tesla has officially launched its new Model Y Performance variant in Europe, exceeding expectations with its features, although it carries a higher price tag. The performance variant resembles a slightly modified version of the standard Model Y, incorporating a carbon fiber spoiler, 21-inch Arachnid wheels, and a more dynamic front and rear design. The interior showcases carbon fiber accents and sportier seating.
The most notable aspect is its performance, particularly for a family SUV. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 250km/h. While these statistics align with previous Model Y Performance trims (which became unavailable after the vehicle’s “Juniper” refresh in January 2025), the range is impressive. The Model Y Performance offers a 580km WLTP range, closely approaching the 586km of the Long Range All-Wheel Drive. This marks a substantial enhancement, as the former Performance variant had significantly lower range than the Long Range AWD trim.
As per Tesla, this range improvement is attributed to “new high-density battery cells with enhanced charge capacity.” The stability of the ride is also upgraded with adaptive damping that modifies handling according to road conditions, along with staggered wheel and tire configurations for improved grip and steering. New driving modes provide traction control adjustments based on driving behavior and terrain.
In terms of pricing, it is approximately 9,000 euros higher than the Long Range All-Wheel Drive model in various European markets. For example, the Tesla MYP is listed at 62,970 euros in Germany and 61,651 euros in France. Although the price is considerable, the remarkable specifications are anticipated to draw buyers, despite a drop in sales in Europe linked to Musk’s political controversies.
