Nintendo Reveals Release Date for Switch 2 and Unexpected RPG from FromSoftware
Nintendo commenced its latest Direct event with excitement, presenting fans with an initial glimpse at its eagerly awaited game lineup for 2025-2026—and ultimately confirming the official release date for the forthcoming Switch 2 console.
As anticipated, the showcase featured announcements regarding major games, including the next chapter in the cherished Mario Kart franchise. However, Nintendo also had a few surprises up its sleeve. One of the most significant announcements came from renowned developer FromSoftware, celebrated for hits like Dark Souls and Elden Ring. Their latest project, a multiplayer RPG named The Duskbloods, is set within a dark steampunk fantasy realm and promises an immersive experience rich in lore, filled with terrifying adversaries and thrilling action.
In The Duskbloods, players embody a vampire-like character navigating a vast industrial metropolis brimming with peril. The game showcases a diverse range of enemies, from horrific sewer monsters to heavily armed foes—and even a shape-shifting dinosaur. Additionally, firearms are an integral aspect of this grim universe.
Fans quickly began to make connections between The Duskbloods and FromSoftware’s 2015 cult favorite Bloodborne, owing to its gothic style, moonlit transformations, and haunting ambiance. While a Bloodborne sequel remains out of reach, The Duskbloods seems to serve as a spiritual successor that could fulfill that similar desire.
The Duskbloods will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 and is expected to launch in 2026.
