We no longer have to rely on unauthorized renders. The Nothing Phone (3) has been officially unveiled.
The tech startup based in the UK, recognized for its distinctive products that provide flagship-level experiences at relatively accessible prices, revealed its latest smartphone on Tuesday. The Nothing Phone (3) starts at a price of $799 and can be pre-ordered from the Nothing website beginning July 4. It comes in two color options, white and black, featuring the following key specifications:
– Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset
– 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate
– 5,150mAH battery
– 12/16GB RAM
– 256/512GB storage
– 50MP main rear camera
– 50MP periscope camera
– 50MP ultra-wide camera
– 50MP front-facing camera
Let’s explore that in more detail. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset may not be the highest-performing for Android devices; it is presumably a step down from the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip employed in the most recent Samsung smartphones. However, I anticipate satisfactory performance from Phone (3). It’s essential to mention that other, more expensive smartphones come equipped with premium chipsets, which is to be expected.
The specifications for the display and battery are commendable for a device at this price point, as are the camera specifications. Storage and RAM are also adequate. Nevertheless, specifications are not the sole emphasis with a Nothing phone. Similar to its previous models, it runs on a distinctive Android variant known as NothingOS and showcases a unique physical design. The three rear camera lenses are asymmetrical and do not create a bulge like many competing phones. Additionally, there is a new glyph interface situated on the back, featuring a pixel-based circular window that can show the time, run a stopwatch, or even engage you in a game of rock-paper-scissors.
We will have to wait to see if Phone (3) fulfills its promise, but it is encouraging to observe that Nothing has not adhered to conventional design aesthetics thus far.
