### What is *Connections*?
The *New York Times*’ newest word challenge has turned into a phenomenon on social media. Developed in collaboration with assistant puzzle editor Wyna Liu, *Connections* can be played on both web browsers and mobile platforms. The goal? To categorize four words that share a unified theme.
Every puzzle is made up of 16 words, split into four distinct categories. These categories may include anything from book titles to software names, countries, and beyond. While numerous words might appear to fit together, only one combination is correct.
When you successfully pinpoint a group of four words, they are taken off the board. However, incorrect guesses are counted as errors, and players may make up to four mistakes before the game concludes.
To facilitate solving, players have the option to shuffle the board to better identify connections. Each category’s difficulty is indicated by color:
