What is Connections?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game has taken social media by storm. The Times acknowledges associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu for her role in developing this exciting new word game and introducing it to the publication’s Games section. Connections is accessible on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words that have something in common.

Each puzzle includes 16 words, and each grouping is divided into four distinct categories. These groups can consist of anything from book titles, software, names of countries, etc. Although several words may seem to fit together, only one correct combination exists.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the board. Incorrect guesses are counted as mistakes—players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate the identification of connections. Furthermore, each category is color-coded with yellow representing the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Much like Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
