Connections: Sports Edition — An Exciting Variation of the NYT Word Game for Sports Fans
The New York Times has introduced a fresh take on its beloved word game, Connections, this time featuring a sports theme. Connections: Sports Edition is crafted to challenge sports fans by testing their skills in identifying common themes among words — a familiar premise for those who enjoy the original game.
Like the traditional version of Connections, the objective is to combine four related words based on a shared theme. Additionally, akin to Wordle, the game resets daily at midnight, with each new puzzle presenting a unique challenge. If you find yourself in need of assistance, we offer hints and strategies to guide you. Prefer to jump directly to the solution? Navigate to the bottom for today’s answers.
What Is Connections: Sports Edition?
This new daily puzzle represents a partnership between The New York Times and The Athletic, the Times’ owned sports news platform. Accessible via both desktop and mobile browsers, Connections: Sports Edition challenges players with 16 words. The task? Organize them into four groups of four, each connected by a common link.
The categories may include anything from sports jargon to team names and more. Although multiple words may appear to fit together, there exists only one correct way to categorize them. Successfully identifying a group removes those words from the game board. However, be cautious — you have only four incorrect guesses before the game concludes.
To assist you in recognizing patterns, the game provides an option to shuffle the board. Each category is color-coded based on difficulty: yellow signifies the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. And similar to Wordle, you can share your outcomes with friends on social media.
