Just like Wordle, a fresh puzzle is unveiled daily at midnight, with each one increasing in difficulty.

What Is Connections: Sports Edition?
Created in partnership with The Athletic, the NYT’s specialized sports arm, Connections: Sports Edition is a word game that is compatible with both browsers and mobile devices. The goal is to categorize 16 words into four groups of four based on a common theme.
Each puzzle presents a variety of possible categories, but only one correct way to arrange the words exists. When you correctly identify a group, those four words vanish from the board. If you make an error, it reflects on your total—players can afford up to four incorrect guesses before the game concludes.
To assist in recognizing patterns, participants can shuffle the board. Each category is color-coded by level of difficulty: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (most challenging). Like Wordle, you can share your outcomes with friends on social media.
