What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game debuts in partnership with The Athletic, the New York Times’ sports reporting division. Connections is playable on web browsers and mobile devices, asking players to categorize four words sharing a common connection.

Every puzzle contains 16 words organized into four categories. These groups can feature anything from book titles to software or country names. Although several words might appear to connect, there is only one correct answer.

When a player accurately identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated. Incorrect guesses are counted as errors, with a maximum of four allowed before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to discover connections more conveniently. Each group is color-coded: yellow represents the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, results can be shared across social media platforms.
