What is Connections Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word challenge has been introduced in collaboration with The Athletic, the sports section of the New York Times. Connections can be accessed on web browsers and mobile platforms, requiring players to categorize four words that have a shared characteristic.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words, divided into four groups. These groups may contain anything from book titles to software or names of countries. While various words may appear to fit, there is only one accurate solution.

Upon successfully identifying all four words in a group, those words are eliminated from the board. A wrong guess is counted as a mistake—players may make up to four mistakes before the game is concluded.

Players are permitted to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate the discovery of connections. Each group is color-coded, with yellow indicating the simplest, succeeded by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, players can share their results with friends via social media.
