What is Connections Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game launches in collaboration with The Athletic, the New York Times’ sports reporting platform. Connections is available on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to group four words that share a common connection.

Each puzzle features 16 words categorized into four groups. These groups can consist of anything from book titles to software or country names. While several words may appear to match together, only one correct answer exists.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a group, those words are eliminated from the board. Incorrect guesses are counted as mistakes, with players permitted up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to more easily identify connections. Each group is color-coded, with yellow indicating the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, results can be shared with friends on social platforms.
