What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game, developed with The Athletic, challenges sports expertise. Connections is accessible on web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words that share a common association.

Each puzzle comprises 16 words split into four groups. These categories could encompass anything from book titles to the names of countries. While several words may appear linked, there is only one accurate solution.

If a player successfully identifies a group, those words are eliminated. An incorrect guess counts as an error — players can commit up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to identify connections more effortlessly. Each group is assigned a color code: yellow represents the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results on social media.
