What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word challenge debuted with The Athletic, the New York Times’ sports journalism entity. Connections can be accessed via web browsers and mobile devices, requiring participants to categorize four words with a shared theme.

Each challenge presents 16 words divided into four categories. These groups may consist of book titles, software, country names, etc. Even though many words may appear to connect, there is only one correct set.

If a participant correctly identifies all four words in a group, those words are eliminated from the board. Mistakes count if guessed incorrectly — players have a maximum of four errors until the game concludes.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to make recognizing connections simpler. Each group is color-coded, starting with yellow as the simplest, then green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your outcomes with friends on social platforms.
