What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game, created in partnership with The Athletic, the New York Times’ platform for sports reporting, has been released. Connections is accessible on web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words that share a commonality.

Each puzzle contains 16 words, categorized into four groups. These groups can involve anything from book titles to software or country names. Even if several words seem compatible, there’s solely one right answer.

If a player successfully finds all four words in a group, those words are removed from the board. Incorrect guesses are considered mistakes — players can make up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate finding connections. Each group is color-coded: yellow denotes the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends via social media.
