What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game, developed in partnership with The Athletic, the sports division of the New York Times, can be played on web browsers and mobile devices. Players categorize four words with a shared connection.

Each puzzle contains 16 words split into four categories. These categories can range from book titles to software or country names. While several words may appear to match, there is only one accurate solution.

If a player successfully locates all four words in a grouping, those words are removed from play. Incorrect guesses count as errors — players can make up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players are free to rearrange and shuffle the board to better identify connections. Each group is color-coded: yellow is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, results can be posted on social media.
