What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game debuts in collaboration with The Athletic, the New York Times’ sports news division. Players can enjoy Connections on web browsers and mobile devices, where the objective is to categorize four words that share a common association.

Every puzzle consists of 16 words split into four groups. These groups can encompass anything from book titles to software names or country titles. While numerous words may appear interconnected, there is only one accurate solution.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a group, those words are eliminated from the board. An incorrect guess counts toward the total mistakes allowed — players may commit up to four errors before the game concludes.

Players also have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to detect connections more readily. Each group is assigned a color code, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends through social media.
