What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word puzzle, in partnership with The Athletic, the New York Times’ sports journalism branch, is now out. Connections can be played on web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words with a shared characteristic.

Every puzzle comprises 16 words divided into four categories. These groups may include anything from book titles to software names or countries. While several words might appear connected, only one answer is correct.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a set, those words are eliminated from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake — participants can make up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to identify connections more conveniently. Each category is color-coded: yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, you can share your outcomes on social networks.
