What is Connections: Sports Edition?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game, in collaboration with The Athletic, evaluates sports knowledge. Connections can be played on web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words that share a common connection.

Each puzzle presents 16 words grouped into four categories. These groups may consist of book titles, software, country names, etc. While several words might appear related, there is only one accurate answer.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated. An incorrect guess is counted as a mistake — players can make up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to identify connections more efficiently. Each group is color-coded, with yellow being the simplest, succeeded by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you have the option to share results on social platforms.
