What is Connections?

The latest daily word game from NYT has turned into a phenomenon on social media. The Times acknowledges associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu for playing a key role in developing this new word game and introducing it to the publication’s Games section. Connections can be enjoyed on both web browsers and mobile platforms, challenging players to categorize four words that have a commonality.

Each puzzle contains 16 words, with the groupings divided into four categories. These categories might encompass anything from book titles to software, country names, and more. While several words might appear to correspond, only one answer is correct.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the game board. Making an incorrect guess counts as a mistake—players can make a maximum of four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players also have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate finding connections. Additionally, each group is assigned a color code, with yellow being the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
