What is Connections?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game has turned into a viral hit on social media. The Times attributes the creation of this innovative word game to associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, who incorporated it into the publication’s Games section. Connections is playable on web browsers as well as mobile devices, challenging players to categorize four words that have a shared theme.

Every puzzle showcases 16 words, with the groups divided into four distinct categories. These sets might encompass various topics, including book titles, software, names of countries, etc. While several words may appear to correspond, only one combination is accurate.

When a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the board. Incorrect guesses count as errors—players are permitted up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate the discovery of connections. Furthermore, each group is color-coded, with yellow representing the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends via social media.
