Observe Theo James and Osgood Perkins Showcase *The Monkey* to Authentic Morticians

Osgood Perkins’ forthcoming horror flick, *The Monkey*, is filled with horrifying deaths, ranging from savage lawnmower incidents to alarming pool electrocutions. But how would these exaggerated death sequences fare under the examination of professional morticians?

In a recent video, *The Monkey* actor Theo James and *Longlegs* director Osgood Perkins seek to find out. They meet with morticians Matt and Heather, sharing clips from the film to observe their responses. As experienced professionals, Matt and Heather dissect each death for authenticity, providing intriguing insights into their profession—such as whether corpses can still expel gas (they can) and the methods used to reconstruct badly damaged bodies.

Nevertheless, not every death in the film is easy for them to handle. Some of the movie’s most gripping scenes even leave these experts feeling uneasy. Curious about which scenes impacted them the most? Check out the full video above.

If all the blood and violence leave you wanting more, don’t forget to catch *The Monkey* in theaters. Mashable’s Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko has already termed it “a hell of a good time.”

*The Monkey* arrives in theaters on February 21.
