Mattel has recently committed a regrettable blunder by printing the incorrect website address, “Wicked.com,” on the packaging of their newly released singing dolls, linked to Universal Pictures’ *Wizard of Oz* prequel, *Wicked*. The accurate URL for the film is actually [WickedMovie.com](http://WickedMovie.com), but the erroneous address directs users to an adults-only site.
Individuals visiting Wicked.com encounter a notice stating that the site is limited to adults 18 and above and features explicit, pornographic content.
Mattel has recognized the error, releasing a statement to the Associated Press in which the company expressed sorrow and vowed to implement prompt corrective measures. While the specifics on how the situation will be addressed are still uncertain, many of the dolls — mainly available in the U.S. — have already been removed from online sellers like Amazon and Target. Mattel is recommending that parents who have obtained the dolls dispose of the packaging or keep it away from children’s sight. The dolls are designed for kids aged four and older.
In the meantime, the far-right social media account LibsofTikTok has attempted to take advantage of the situation, insinuating that the mistake may have been deliberate.
Despite this snafu causing complications for Mattel, Universal Pictures might be gaining from the heightened publicity. The *Wicked* movie, featuring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Jonathan Bailey, is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 22.
For those keen to catch the movie ahead of its regular release, Amazon Prime members can secure tickets for an advance screening.
