Please, stop killing Pedro Pascal. Seriously — we’ve had enough.
Even if you engaged with the game and were aware Joel’s fate in The Last of Us was unavoidable, witnessing it play out on screen was excruciating — and not solely due to the brutality of the scene. It resonated more deeply because it was Pedro Pascal. His demise didn’t merely represent a plot twist; it sparked a surge of traumatic flashbacks for fans who’ve witnessed him face tragic ends far too frequently.
Game of Thrones. Drive-Away Dolls. Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Gladiator II. The catalog of projects where Pascal meets his end is extensive and painful. And it all began with Joss Whedon, the original “don’t get too attached” showrunner. Even in a minor part on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Whedon recognized Pascal and thought, “Yep, he’s done for.” And just like that — gone.

But it’s not merely that he dies — it’s the manner of his death. His eyes are crushed. His head is severed. He’s beaten into an unrecognizable state with prosthetics so eerily realistic they’re bound to win an Emmy. At times, he’s even thrown into a meat grinder. A meat grinder!
Enough is enough. Let the man live. Allow him to display that charming smile, radiate warm “cool dad” vibes, and simply exist — without facing gruesome death. Disney, we’re looking at you. With The Mandalorian Season 2, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the Avengers reboot, and more Star Wars content on the way, there are countless opportunities to grant Pascal a dignified demise. But maybe… just once… don’t?
For fans longing for a Pedro Pascal role where he can be adorable, charismatic, and — fingers crossed — alive, there’s hope on the horizon. The forthcoming rom-com The Materialists, from Past Lives writer/director Celine Song, features Pascal alongside Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans in a love triangle. It’s charming, it’s full of chemistry, and best of all — perhaps, just perhaps — it won’t conclude with Pascal’s premature death.
Please? Let him live.
