Pokémon Pokopia Appears Charming: All You Need to Know

Did anyone request an adorably delightful Pokémon game that allows you to farm, take naps, and construct houses, providing a respite from the unending news cycle? It’s coming soon.

Following the triumph of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Nintendo has declared Pokémon Pokopia, an enchanting cozy game where you can build a life with Pokémon friends. Created by Koei Tecmo, this marks the first life simulation game for Pokémon, set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

A trailer was unveiled during the Nintendo Direct in September, with another teaser scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. ET.

What is Pokémon Pokopia? Here’s what we have learned.

Pokémon Pokopia serves as a life and farming simulator akin to Animal Crossing, Immortal Life, Grow A Garden, and Stardew Valley. You assume the role of Ditto, transforming into a human form. Your mission is to collect materials, cultivate crops, and build a dwelling, assisted by your Pokémon friends and their abilities. For example, Ditto can utilize Bulbasaur’s Leafage for greenery or Squirtle’s Water Gun to hydrate plants.

As you nurture the environment, additional Pokémon will show up, enabling you to construct more homes and form a community of Pokémon neighbors. The game world resembles a Minecraft-style setting featuring Animal Crossing elements like waterfalls and windmills.

The game operates on real-time day and night cycles, with energy levels influenced by your actions and replenished through napping. It will be available in various languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Will Pokémon Pokopia feature online play? Yes, with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can connect with other players and invite them to visit your town.

Pokémon Pokopia is set to launch on March 5, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $69.99 on Nintendo’s website, with preorders already available. This aligns with the pricing of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Controversy has emerged regarding the announcement that Pokémon Pokopia will be the first Nintendo-published game on a Game-Key Card, despite Nintendo’s previous assertion against using such cards for first-party titles. However, this game is being developed by Koei Tecmo, not Nintendo, and only Nintendo’s Japan site categorizes it as a Game-Key Card release.
