Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 Start on April 9

The Nintendo Switch 2 is officially in the works — provided there are no significant supply chain disruptions along the way.

During a recent one-hour Nintendo Direct livestream, the company introduced its next-generation console and subsequently released a press statement outlining essential launch information. Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will commence on April 9, with the console anticipated to arrive in stores on Thursday, June 5.

The Switch 2 will be offered as a separate unit for $449.99 — reflecting a $150 increase compared to the original 2017 Nintendo Switch. Additionally, a bundle option will be available, featuring a digital version of Mario Kart World, one of the two launch games for the console.

Nintendo seems to be preparing for high demand. A Bloomberg report from January indicated that the company plans to distribute over 20 million units in 2025 — 5 million more than the initial production of the original Switch in its first year. This could lead to improved availability at launch, although only time will reveal the outcome.

This news is still ongoing.
