Adult Swim has officially revealed the launch date for Rick and Morty Season 8 — and despite the April Fool’s Day tease, it’s not a joke. The cherished animated series is set to come back on May 25.
To celebrate the event, Adult Swim released a festive first look that is heavily inspired by Easter themes, alongside a live-action April Fool’s Day special. In the teaser, Rick (voiced by Ian Cardoni) and Morty (voiced by Harry Belden) find themselves in what Morty describes as a “Wicker Man-looking place,” featuring burning rabbit effigies and robed figures in bunny masks. Welcome to what seems to be a strange version of German Easter.
The pair discovers a stained glass window showing a creepy Easter bunny-human blend, hiding a gigantic alien Easter egg. However, they’re not the only ones seeking it — a group of Space Christians is also in pursuit and doesn’t appreciate Rick and Morty’s meddling. What ensues is a tense standoff, filled with Rick’s signature sarcasm and barbs.
Rick and Morty Season 8 debuts May 25 at 11 p.m. ET on Adult Swim. It will also be available for streaming on Max and Hulu starting September 1.
