On Friday, Roblox announced intentions to launch a new social video platform within its ecosystem, along with new AI tools for creators. These announcements were made during the Roblox Developers Conference. Roblox gaming clips frequently gain traction on platforms like TikTok and Reels, but they contend with a variety of other content types there.
Introducing Roblox Moments, a TikTok-style platform for Roblox players to showcase in-game highlights. Roblox’s new social features may come under scrutiny, particularly following recent lawsuits regarding child safety.
Roblox Moments is set to launch in beta for users aged 13 and older, operating similarly to TikTok’s feed. Users can clip, edit, and share moments lasting up to 30 seconds. Roblox referenced a YouTube announcement showcasing over 1 trillion video views of Roblox content. The platform’s goal is to capture some of this engagement by enabling users to add music and text descriptions to their videos. Roblox also aims to provide APIs for third-party developers to augment the capturing and sharing of moments.
Alongside Roblox Moments, new AI tools for creators were unveiled. Creators can employ prompts to create interactive vehicles or weapons for in-game characters, representing a transition from static 3D objects. A real-time AI-driven voice chat translation tool will support communication among English, Spanish, French, and German speakers. Additional AI tools encompass text-to-speech and speech-to-text APIs, facilitating voice narration and character control via vocal commands.
UPDATE: Sep. 6, 2025, 8:50 a.m. EDT This story has been revised to specify that Roblox Moments is an experience within the Roblox platform, rather than a standalone application.
