The anticipated Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro is said to be off the table. A report from SamMobile states that Samsung has chosen not to roll out a “Pro” variant for its forthcoming smartphone series, opting instead to stick with the standard S26 moniker.
While this decision is not unexpected, it may come across as uninspiring. The report implies that the “Pro” designation would have served more as a marketing tactic rather than a substantial hardware improvement, akin to Apple’s iPhone Pro lineup. Consequently, Samsung’s entry-level model will keep its name and known specifications.
This development may dishearten fans seeking innovation, particularly as other Galaxy updates have been underwhelming. Recent reports have revealed that Samsung is phasing out its Edge series after merely one release — the S25 Edge, which debuted five months ago in May. It is expected to be succeeded by the S26 Plus, with rumors hinting at no significant design alterations apart from an updated camera bump.
The S26 Ultra is also predicted to feature only slight enhancements, predominantly a bigger camera module. Unless Samsung has an unexpected announcement in store, the 2026 Galaxy series will probably consist of a base model, a Plus, and an Ultra, with minimal new features.
