Samsung Plans to Market a Significant Quantity of Foldable Phones Next Year

Samsung has set ambitious targets for 2026.

According to reports from Korean news source Maeil Business News (via 9to5Google), the firm plans to sell 35 million units of its Galaxy S26 flagship, with expectations of 24 million sales in the initial six months. By contrast, Samsung anticipated 22 million sales for its Galaxy S25 smartphone, which debuted in January this year, in the first half of the year.

The company also aims to move five million units of its foldable devices, namely the Fold and Flip models, scheduled for release in July 2026.

In total, Samsung’s mobile division aims for $90.7 billion in sales next year.

This target is noteworthy as Samsung’s mobile segment generally does not reach such elevated sales levels. Nevertheless, last year, the company’s flagship Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 exceeded expectations, which Samsung credits to the AI features of its smartphones.

Apple stands as Samsung’s primary competitor, and despite Apple having a fruitful year, it is widely viewed as lagging in AI technology for its devices.

Recently, Samsung announced that enhanced camera sensors, a new chip, and “next-gen AI” will be the standout features of the Galaxy S26 phones, which are set to launch next January.

The company offered limited details regarding its ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge, which allegedly is not performing well in the sales department.
