Samsung Announces Galaxy S25 Edge Launch for May 12
Samsung is embracing an unexpectedly open strategy ahead of its upcoming major product announcement.
On Tuesday, the company officially dispatched invitations to media organizations for the forthcoming Samsung Unpacked event, set for Monday, May 12 at 8 p.m. ET. The invitation prominently displays the slogan “Beyond slim,” strongly suggesting the arrival of the ultra-sleek Galaxy S25 Edge — a device Samsung has previously hinted at.
In a press release that accompanied the announcement, Samsung validated what many had already surmised — the Galaxy S25 Edge will indeed be introduced at the event. Thanks to various leaks, there wasn’t much left to speculation, but now it’s official.
Samsung characterizes the new smartphone as “both a powerful AI ally and an engineering wonder,” merging top-notch performance with an elegant, portable design. While the company has yet to disclose full technical specifications, it confirmed that the S25 Edge will include a 200-megapixel primary camera. As anticipated, artificial intelligence will play a significant role in the device’s functions, aiding users in capturing, editing, and sharing images, as well as providing real-time insights through the camera lens.
Regarding the smartphone’s aesthetics, Samsung states that “every curve, contour and component reflects a breakthrough in precise engineering to craft a top-tier experience deserving of the S series title.”
For those excited to observe the device in action, the Galaxy S25 Edge made a fleeting appearance earlier this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Although hands-on access was limited, the phone was showcased in person — and indeed, it’s notably thin. However, don’t expect it to defy the laws of physics, as the camera protrusion is still fairly prominent.
Samsung aficionados and tech fans can view the Galaxy S25 Edge unveiling live on May 12 through the company’s official YouTube channel.
