Is the whole internet down?
As of 2:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 12, users are facing extensive service interruptions on well-known websites and applications, including Twitch, Gmail, Discord, Nintendo Switch Online, among numerous other platforms.
Down Detector, the service monitoring outages, reported a spike in error notifications across the internet, leading users to social media to discuss problems with their preferred sites. The outages have also affected several services (Disclosure: Ziff Davis owns both Mashable and Down Detector.) As of now, Mashable reporters are encountering difficulties accessing certain Google services, such as Google Meet.
Cloudflare, a prominent IT management firm that offers hosting solutions, is one of the services impacted. On Thursday afternoon, Cloudflare announced “Widespread Cloudflare service outages” on their website. Initially, the company mentioned they are “actively investigating this situation.”
Nonetheless, a more updated statement reads, “We are beginning to see a recovery in services. We continue to anticipate intermittent errors across the affected services as systems process retries and caches are replenished.”
