Sofia Carson (*Carry-On*) sets off on a path of self-exploration in Netflix’s forthcoming film *The Life List*, based on Lori Nelson Spielman’s novel.

Carson portrays Alex, a young woman in mourning over her mother’s death, played by Connie Britton (*Zero Day*). Yet, her mother continues to be a part of Alex’s life through a collection of recorded video messages. In these clips, she motivates Alex to fulfill a list of aspirations created during her teenage years—activities such as “dive into a mosh pit” and “try stand-up comedy.” With each goal Alex achieves, she receives a new message from her mother’s lawyer, portrayed by Kyle Allen (*A Haunting in Venice*). As Alex faces these challenges, she embarks on a life-altering journey filled with risks, personal growth, and the chance for romance.
