“Song Sung Blue Trailer: Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson Launch a Neil Diamond Tribute Band”

Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson tap into their inner Neil Diamond in the forthcoming musical film *Song Sung Blue*.

Penned and helmed by Craig Brewer (*Hustle & Flow*, *Dolemite Is My Name*), the movie draws inspiration from the 2008 documentary of the same title, which shares its name with a 1972 Diamond track. It documented musicians Mike and Claire Sardina, who rose to fame as the Neil Diamond/Patsy Cline tribute duo Lightning & Thunder. (He’s Lightning, she’s Thunder.)

Jackman and Hudson take on the roles of Mike and Claire in Brewer’s *Song Sung Blue*, illustrating their evolution from aspiring musicians to local legends. Throughout their journey, they fall in love, tie the knot, and perform a multitude of Neil Diamond songs. The film’s initial trailer showcases Hudson and Jackman delivering snippets of Diamond’s “Cherry, Cherry” and “Sweet Caroline” — “bah, bah, bah” included.

Both Jackman and Hudson have experience in musicals: Jackman received an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in 2012’s *Les Misérables*, starred in the successful 2017 film *The Greatest Showman*, and boasts a remarkable list of stage credentials, including his Tony-winning performance in *The Boy from Oz*. On the other hand, Hudson appeared in Rob Marshall’s 2009 film adaptation of *Nine* and shone as NYADA instructor Cassandra July in Season 4 of *Glee*. Watch the complete trailer to witness how their musical abilities bring life to their roles as the Sardinas.

*Song Sung Blue* also features Michal Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi.

*Song Sung Blue* arrives in theaters on Dec. 25.
