OpenAI has launched a new revenue opportunity. Users who appreciate creating AI videos with the Sora tool for free can now opt to pay for more generations each day beyond the free tier limit. This announcement was made by Bill Peebles, OpenAI’s head of Sora, on X, noting that the current economics of Sora are “entirely unsustainable.” At present, Sora users can access 30 free generations every day. As reported by The Verge, the updated system enables users to pay $4 for an additional 10 generations each day. Peebles also mentioned that OpenAI may decrease the number of free generations provided daily, implying that users could have to pay regularly for Sora if 30 is inadequate. Furthermore, Peebles conveyed interest in permitting companies to charge extra for appearances of popular characters in Sora videos in the future.
