Connections: Sports Edition is a fresh iteration of the beloved New York Times word challenge that assesses sports enthusiasts’ expertise.
Like the original Connections, the game requires discovering “common links among words.” Similar to Wordle, Connections resets at midnight, with each new word set becoming progressively harder—so we’ve included some hints and advice to assist you.

What is Connections Sports Edition?
The NYT‘s latest daily word challenge, launched in partnership with The Athletic, is accessible on web browsers and mobile devices. Players are tasked with grouping four words that have a common link.
Every puzzle consists of 16 words categorized into four groups. These groupings may contain book titles, software names, country titles, etc. Although many words may appear connected, only one accurate answer is available.
If a player successfully groups all four words, those words are taken off the board. An incorrect guess is counted as a mistake—players are allowed to make up to four mistakes before the game concludes.
Players can rearrange and shuffle the board to identify connections more effectively. Each group is marked by color: yellow indicates the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, results can be shared on social platforms.
