Spotify’s newest functionality boosts your DJ abilities like never before. With an ideal playlist ready, Spotify now enables you to introduce and personalize transitions between tracks. On Tuesday, Spotify launched a beta version for Premium subscribers to integrate song transitions.
A fresh mix button located in the playlist toolbar allows you to merge songs effortlessly. You can opt for Auto, letting Spotify manage the mixing, or select presets such as Fade or Rise for various transition styles. For enhanced technical control, Spotify provides options to modify volume, EQ, and effects using waveform visuals and beat data. By selecting Mix on the playlist, BPMs and keys are showcased to help create smooth transitions between tracks.
This functionality is a part of Spotify’s continuous efforts to offer users greater control over their listening journey. Lately, Spotify has permitted users to personalize genres for Discover Weekly playlists and modify queues with shuffle and sleep timer features. Spotify’s AI-driven DJ also now accommodates song requests.
The growing dependence on algorithm-based recommendations has split Spotify users. Some enjoy the app’s capability to curate music aligned with their tastes, while others find the suggestions bothersome and believe they impede independently discovering new artists.
New functionalities designed to give users more control, or at least the illusion of it, may ease frustrations that have caused some to abandon the app. Transitions are now accessible to Spotify Premium users, enabling them to harness the power of mastering song transitions.
