Starlink Disruption: Numerous Satellite Internet Users Experience Problems.

Numerous individuals encountered a Starlink internet service disruption commencing around 1:30 p.m. ET on Monday, August 18.

The service Down Detector observed a notable surge in user error notifications at this moment, reaching its highest point just prior to 2 p.m. The majority of users indicated either a “complete outage” of Starlink services or problems with their satellite internet connection. (Note: Down Detector is a subsidiary of Ziff Davis, which also owns Mashable.)

Starlink operates as a satellite internet service, managing the largest satellite constellation worldwide, comprising over 6,750 satellites in orbit. This allows the company to provide high-speed internet to isolated locations or areas devoid of conventional internet services. The business is a division of SpaceX, both of which are owned by Elon Musk.

In July 2025, Starlink faced a worldwide satellite internet outage. The company acknowledged the July disruption on X; however, as of this moment, the X accounts of SpaceX and Starlink have yet to offer any updates or confirmations about an outage.

According to Down Detector, users throughout the United States reported issues with internet connectivity, with some noting that the service was promptly restored.

Mashable has contacted SpaceX for further details and will update this article if a reply is received.
