Starlink Service Interruption: Satellite Internet Users Indicate Disturbance as Firm Reacts

On Thursday, July 24, users of Starlink encountered difficulties in accessing the satellite internet service, with the company confirming a network disruption. At 4:05 p.m. ET, Starlink’s X account reported, “Starlink is presently experiencing a network outage and we are in the process of implementing a resolution. We thank you for your patience, and we will provide an update once this situation is resolved.”

Down Detector observed a spike in error reports from Starlink users beginning around 3 p.m., peaking at 3:30 p.m. While reports have subsided, they still remain elevated compared to the period prior to the incident. A notification on the Starlink website stated that the company is looking into the matter. The severity of the outage is uncertain, but given that there are over 6,700 satellites catering to millions worldwide, a Starlink outage could have a major effect on users across the globe.

Starlink, a subsidiary of Musk’s SpaceX, delivers high-speed internet to regions that lack web connectivity. This story is ongoing, and updates will be provided as further information becomes available.
