Stephen Colbert Mocks Donald Trump’s Lack of Emmy Awards

Stephen Colbert made his comeback to The Late Show on Tuesday, basking in a standing ovation and celebrating the show’s inaugural Emmy triumph. He attributed the Outstanding Talk Series accolade to his staff, which encompasses the production crew, writers, band, wardrobe, and audience, while paying tribute to fellow contenders Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel. Colbert also noted that Donald Trump has never been awarded an Emmy, as The Apprentice consistently lost to The Amazing Race, prompting Trump to assert that the awards were “rigged.” Colbert had previously taken jabs at Trump during the 2017 Emmy Awards. In July, Colbert revealed that CBS had pulled the plug on his show the same week he accused Paramount of bribing Trump. Trump reacted by expressing his pleasure over Colbert’s departure.
