A day after clarifying **speculations about being banned from X**, author **Stephen King** has made it official: he is leaving the platform previously known as Twitter.
“I’m departing Twitter,” King announced on Nov. 14. “I tried to stick around, but the environment has turned too toxic. You can follow me on Threads, if you wish.”
This choice isn’t entirely surprising, particularly if you’ve observed the recent trends in the App Store. In recent days, X’s rivals, **Bluesky** and **Threads**, have experienced a notable increase in popularity, with **Elon Musk’s** platform struggling to keep pace. For numerous X users, this widespread migration is a direct response to the outcomes of the U.S. elections and Musk’s **new position within President-elect Donald Trump’s administration**.
Earlier this week, Bluesky announced **over 700,000 recent sign-ups**, propelling it to the forefront of the Apple App Store rankings. Concurrently, Threads, where King has now established himself, has reportedly reached **275 million active users**, according to Meta. Given King’s stature, it’s probable that some of his **7 million followers on X** will migrate to Threads as well.
King has been a vocal critic of Musk ever since the billionaire took over Twitter in late 2022. He has often expressed his disagreement with Musk’s choices and occasionally utilized his platform to **mock** the tech entrepreneur.
It’s no surprise that **King’s debut post on Threads** targeted Trump’s “absurd” cabinet appointments. He commented, “The Klown Kar isn’t completely full, but it’s getting close.”
