Tesla Unaccountably Misplaces $1.4 Billion

Tesla Confronts New Financial Puzzle: $1.4 Billion Disappeared

Tesla’s difficulties in 2025 keep escalating, with plummeting stock values, reduced car sales, public demonstrations, and even acts of vandalism becoming commonplace. The backlash against the corporation has grown stronger, mainly because of CEO Elon Musk’s close connections to the Trump administration and his increasing involvement in right-wing politics. Consequently, many discontented individuals are venting their frustrations on Tesla, Musk’s cherished electric vehicle enterprise.

In the midst of these persistent issues, a new and troubling concern has emerged—Tesla seems to be lacking $1.4 billion.

A recent *Financial Times* article indicates that a considerable amount seems to have disappeared from Tesla’s financial documentation. The investigation examined the company’s cash flow reports and capital expenditures for the final six months of 2024, juxtaposing them with Tesla’s reported asset valuations. The results revealed a discrepancy—$1.4 billion that cannot be traced.

In the third and fourth quarters of 2024, Tesla stated it had spent $6.3 billion on “purchases of property and equipment excluding finance leases, net of sales,” according to its cash flow reports. However, the company’s balance sheet for the corresponding period indicates that the gross value of its property, plant, and equipment rose by only $4.9 billion, totaling $51 billion. This creates a $1.4 billion void that, as *Financial Times* characterizes, has “vanished.”

There may be plausible explanations for this inconsistency, such as asset sales or adjustments related to foreign exchange. Nevertheless, Tesla has not disclosed any such elements that would clarify the untraceable funds. Instead, the money remains without explanation, lacking any official statement from the company.

*Mashable* has attempted to contact Tesla for a statement but has not yet received a reply. While the cause of the missing funds is still uncertain, the report raises significant worries that investors are likely to seek clarification about.
