The Daily Show Slams White House’s Proposal for Airport Exercise Area

Donald Trump’s transportation secretary Sean Duffy intends to improve airports, declaring $1 billion in funding for grant programs on Monday. At a press conference for his “Make Travel Family Friendly Again” initiative, Duffy suggested potential enhancements for airports, which The Daily Show’s Ronny Chieng critically examined.

To start, Duffy mentioned, “Perhaps you want to establish a separate lane for families to navigate through TSA.”

“How are you the transportation secretary?” Chieng commented. “Your grand idea is the same one every frustrated dad has at the airport. ‘Hey, just create another lane!'”

Duffy subsequently suggested increasing play areas for children at airports.

“Sure, enlarge the airport play areas. Those places are practically pandemic petri dishes,” Chieng remarked. “Hey, I’ve got a thought, how about all the kids from around the globe gather and exchange germs before boarding a new flight?”

Finally, Duffy advised implementing “a fitness area where individuals could get some circulation going and do some pull-ups or step-ups in the airport.”

“You believe people wish to work out during their transit at the airport?” Chieng inquired. “Everyone at the airport is already worn out from traveling, alright? We can’t even stroll to the gate; you had to create floors that walk for us. Plus, this is the same guy who expects us to dress up when we fly. So what, am I supposed to do pull-ups in a tuxedo before hopping on a 12-hour flight to Hawaii? Why not just add a hot yoga room in the terminal so everyone really reeks when they board the plane?”
